"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation." (Heb. 11:1-2)
Introduction: What an honor to be chosen to be included in the "Hall of Faith" in Hebrews 11... To be someone that knew what it was to put your trust in things you could not see, and know in your heart it was the right thing to do, and "just do it!" If there were a group of faith leaders trying to bring a group of "Hebrews 11 type" faith men and women together today...would your name be mentioned? I'm thinking I have a lot more work to do there...a LOT more work. I am excited to study along with you what it means to be someone who doesn't allow outward situations determine my actions. Bringing faith in the unseen into the realm of the seen in making decisions, and learning to be active instead of just being passive in life situations...this is the goal! A few years ago, I was introduced to an acrostic of the word "f-a-i-t-h". Forsaking All I Trust Him - Being able to forsake what I see and trust Him in all situations. Don't trust how I feel but what I KNOW about His Word. So, in the next few weeks...I am going to do a few devotional studies on some great men and women of faith. The faith shown by these greats continue to guide us in our own journey of faith today. We can look back into what guided their decisions and apply that wisdom to our lives.
