Last night as I was thinking about what to share today for our first "YDB", a thought came to me and I shared it on my facebook page.
"Do you hold grudges? Have a forgiving heart instead!" ~ Paula
After I shared that thought, I had several comment that their Bible studies that day were about this topic. This is a subject pretty familiar with most everyone, and we all know the "right" thing to do. But do we do it like we should?
"Please forgive me"...and "I forgive you" are phrases that should be the first thing we do when we've either hurt someone or they have hurt us. But too often we tend to hold a grudge, trying to 'out wait' the other person. Have you ever noticed how sad that makes you? There is a reason for that.
Do you know who you are hurting when you don't forgive those who have hurt you? Let me put it this way...the way you forgive others is the way you are forgiven. Remember in the Lord's Prayer the phrase "...forgive us our sins as we forgive those that have sinned against us..."
_I'm thinking I better be forgiving people with a passion, or I am gonna be on the short end of the forgiveness stick... wondering why my relationships with others seem to be less than great. And besides I'm not a fan of that feeling I get in the pit of my stomach when there is unforgiveness in my life. My plan is to forgive others whether they forgive me or not....it's the right thing to do!
As you start your day today...remember to be quick to forgive and never hold a grudge. By doing this, you can be at peace with yourself.
