"Look at me!!" "Look what I've done!!" "Look what I have!" I'm so proud of me...I just have to make sure everyone else knows what a fantastic person I am. We may not actually say those words, but there are times when we just want others to know how important we are. And you know what? That is just wrong! ![]() "Proud as a peacock" is a saying that is used to mean a vain or self-centered person. The phrase comes from the plumage of the male peafowl (females are peahens). When a male is courting, he spreads his tail feathers, sometimes five feet in length, out in a fan pattern to attract a female. Thus, someone who is "proud as a peacock" is similarly "strutting his stuff." (Wikipedia) We need to understand the seriousness of being prideful...the Bible actually tells us that God hates the proud. "Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. "Prov. 16:5 Wow! Sounds pretty serious to me...being prideful is something we should want to stay away from. Pride causes contempt and dissension among people. It can ruin friendships and put people at odds. God loves us and we should not have an inflated ego that is always seeking attention or thinking we are better than other people. Love is not proud!_
