Rejoices in Truth...what exactly does that mean? Yesterday we talked about how wanting to see others go through difficulties is wrong. Rejoicing in the truth is just the opposite of this. God is the Way, the Truth and the Life...it is actually an important part of the God we serve. This should tell you how important it is for us to carry this out in our own lives.
Sometimes this requires that we show those that are struggling patience, forgiveness and compassion for what they are going through.
Loving someone means that you don't hide important things from them...you stay in that truth spot. If you have been guilty of that, no matter what the reason, make an effort today to put that behind you. I'm going to be "truthful" with you right now...in my life, I have been known to keep things from those I care about because I thought telling them was just not the right thing. Maybe I didn't want to hurt them, or maybe if "truth" be known, I was afraid of the consequences of being totally truthful. I will say right here and now that there are some things that serve no purpose in telling someone...it can only bring more damage than good...I truly believe that. Again, I've known individuals that decide that it is their duty to tell you all about something or someone...they do this under the guise of being your friend, but in reality, they are having issues in their own life that they need to face and want someone to be in that valley with them.
Be patient and forgiving when you are disappointed in those that are close to you...they need the type of love that can only come from those that have a "true" relationship with Jesus. This is not something you can fake...just as truth is not something you can fake. Whether you have been the person that has hidden something... or... someone that has had something hidden from you...take the necessary steps today to be either understanding and forgiving... or... straighten out your life so you can always be truthful.
When someone has been less than truthful, they have to keep making up bigger and better stories, and eventually get caught up in a life of deceit. How much better to delight in the truth...to be happy in your life because you have been open and truthful in your relationships. It may hurt for a time, but God delights in the truth, because God is love.
